There are many reasons why is essential to get auto insurance:
• You are covered for liability damage caused to other people. Your auto insurance company will pay for any injuries or damage done to the other person’s car if it is your fault.
• If you are taken to court for the damages you caused to someone else or their property, then your auto insurance will cover any legal fees.
• The policy will cover your own medical costs and damages to your own car. This way your car can be fixed and replaced if need be. Also, medical costs can get extremely expensive and won’t be covered if you do not have health insurance.
• Your medical costs and damage costs will also not be covered if you are not insured and you are hit by someone who is also not insured.
• It is against the law to drive without auto insurance. Driving without insurance can be so costly that it is actually required by law to purchase car insurance. Some insurance companies will let your local DMV know that you are driving without auto insurance if you cancel your policy or if it expired. If your local DMV knows that you are driving without insurance, they will inform police and the chances are that you will be arrested.
• If you are caught driving without insurance, then you can lose your license. When applying for auto insurance, the company you are applying to will see this on your record and the chances are they will either charge you a ton of money or not cover you at all. Also the insurance company may hesitate to cover you if they see there have been significant breaks between coverage because they will assume you were driving without coverage.
